Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we are asked most often about shelters, NBC filtration, capacity, process and cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an NBC shelter and a regular shelter?
A regular shelter usually provides structural protection only. An NBC shelter adds filtration, positive pressure, decontamination and life-support systems.
How many people should the shelter hold?
The full protected group. Airflow, water reserve and storage calculations depend directly on occupancy.
How long can people stay inside?
72 hours, 14 days, 30 days or longer, depending on the design target. Power, water and filter capacity are the limiting factors.
Can a shelter be built under my existing building?
Yes, integrated at basement level or buried in a garden or parking area. A soil survey is decisive.
Does ventilation work during a power outage?
Yes. A backup power path and a manual or pedal-driven emergency fan maintain airflow.
How often are filters replaced?
It depends on usage, ambient dust and exposure, and is determined by differential pressure readings and periodic inspection.
What drives shelter cost?
Capacity, target duration, protection level, ground conditions and system redundancy are the main cost drivers.
How long does installation take?
Module fabrication and site preparation run in parallel; typically a few weeks to a few months.
Should I build a panic room or a shelter?
It depends on the threat scenario. A safe room suits short-duration security threats; an NBC shelter suits atmospheric and long-duration threats. They can be combined.
Will my project details stay confidential?
Yes. Location, capacity and user information are never published as references; the entire process is confidential.
Do you offer maintenance?
Yes, a periodic programme covering filter replacement, gasket and door checks, and testing of power and monitoring systems.
Is EMP protection necessary?
It depends on the threat profile; it is strongly recommended for critical infrastructure and long-duration scenarios.
